October 5th, 2026 Rybickulous Faith Weekly
Shalom, y’all!
Have you ever looked at something you love doing and wondered:
Could God actually use this?
Could the writing, art, music, business idea, podcast, hobby—or that creative thing you can't seem to stop thinking about—become part of how you serve Him?
This week on Rybickulous Faith, I’m sitting down with Christian fiction author Jessica Manges to talk about exactly that.
Jessica felt called to share the Gospel, but figuring out what that looked like took time. Eventually, God began opening doors that helped her recognize something important:
Writing wasn't separate from her faith. It could become one of the ways she shared it.
📖 Can Fiction Share the Gospel?
Jessica's answer is yes.
And when you think about it, storytelling has been used to communicate truth for a very long time.
Jesus taught through parables.
He talked about seeds, sheep, sons, servants, weddings, vineyards, and ordinary circumstances people understood—and used those stories to reveal something much greater about God and His Kingdom.
That's part of what inspires Jessica's approach to Christian fiction.
Through books including Rebellion of the Watchers and Scott Killian and the Letter, she uses imaginative worlds and relatable characters to explore themes of faith, redemption, God's promises, and our relationship with Him.
During our conversation, we also get into something Christian creatives sometimes wrestle with:
How do you share biblical truth without making your creative work feel like a sermon?
Jessica talks about creating imperfect, relatable characters, listening to feedback, developing her craft, and allowing spiritual truth to emerge naturally through the story.
🌱 Maybe You're Planting a Seed
One thought from our conversation has stuck with me:
There is no story too small.
We live in a world obsessed with measuring impact.
How many views?
How many followers?
How many books sold?
How many people listened?
But God's definition of impact isn't necessarily ours.
What if something you create reaches one person?
What if one person sees Jesus differently because of something you wrote?
What if one struggling believer feels less alone?
What if you plant a seed and never even get to see what grows from it?
That still matters.
“Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people.” — Colossians 3:23
Maybe the question isn't whether your gift is big enough.
Maybe the question is whether you're willing to place it in God's hands.

💭 Something to Think About This Week
Before you go, I want you to consider this:
What has God already placed in your hands that you've been hesitant to use?
You don't need thousands of followers.
You don't need the perfect equipment.
You don't need to have everything figured out.
And you certainly don't need somebody else's calling.
Start with what God gave you.
Write the page. Tell the story. Make the thing. Have the conversation. Plant the seed.
Then trust God with what grows from it.
Until next time,
